Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead ~ Chapter 24

Posted February 28, 2014 by Stephanie in Re-readathon / 3 Comments

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books and re-discover them we created this challenge to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book.
We decided to re-read Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead first.
Co-hosted by Christina @ Booksane and me!

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by Richelle Mead
Paperback, 332 pages
Published August 16th 2007 by Razorbill

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger…

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Chapter twenty-four:

  • page 320 – 332
  • First sentence:
In spite of all the training I’d received, all the lessons on Strigoi habits and how to defend against them, I’d never ever actually seen one.

*spoiler alert*

Last chapter!
To say that Rose is pretty unprepared to actually face a Strigoi, is an understatement. It must be hard for her, because it’s Natalie who was actually a friend, albeit a crazy one, but yeah it must be so hard. So after Natalie lets Victor out, Rose continues to fight her and failing until Dimitri shows up and kills Natalie. Dimitri sure is a badass! Then with Rose being all out of it from the fight (because Natalie smacked her around badly) they talk about what happened and Dimitri finally admits about how he feels but that they still can’t be together because they both will be Lissa’s guardian at some point. Aaw so sad.
The rest of the chapter is pretty much about rounding up and ending. Mia is back in the good graces of some of the royals, while Lissa isn’t because she’s dating Christian. But who cares, we love them together! Lissa and Rose also talk about how it’s better now that Lissa is on some medication because she feels happier but she still misses her connection with spirit and the ability to heal. This actually reminds me so hard about Adrian. My babaaay! *clears throat*
Anyway, at the end Rose goes to talk to the priest to ask what happened to St. Vladimir in the end and he tells her that he died of old age which gives Rose hope that Lissa will be okay after all.

And so does book #1 end… This was fun to but we probably won’t be doing the daily posts thing again with other re-readathons we’ll be doing because let’s face it, one post a day was a bit much even I can admit that. So we’ll be doing a one post a week thing do discuss the chapters we read in that week. Stay tuned, everyone! =D

Quote:

Frantically, I fought against her, trying to mount some kind of defense, but it was like fighting Dimitri on crack.

So what are your thoughts on this chapter?
Let me know!

  1. Wow we literally flew this book! I thought it was quite ironic that the first strigoi Rose had to face was someone she knew. This was an awesome chapter and Richelle rounds up the book so nicely.

This was a great post and I have thoroughly enjoyed this read-a-thon!

Just a thought, have you guys thought about maybe scheduling some posts in advance and only maybe doing it monday to friday? Either way I look forward to the next book with you ladies 🙂

    • I did schedule some posts at the end (because the last two days I've been not home) but I think for me monday to friday would still be too much. A little too much pressure although I know there's no need to feel pressured but yeah 😛

But I'm super glad to have "met" you, Chene! 😀
