Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and Bookish that features a new topic each week where we have to put down our top ten of it.

This week’s topic:

Top Ten “Gateway” Books/Authors In My Reading Journey

~In no particular order~

Cinder by Marissa Meyer – This is the book that got me into fairy tale retellings. A pretty good one to start with, don’t you think? =D

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer – I’d like to say that this book is the one that got me into reading but that isn’t true. I’ve been reading as long as I can remember and I’ve always loved it so no… But this is the book that got me into fantasy ànd into books that are part of a series.
Thank you, Eoin Colfer!

Wings by Aprilynne Pike – This lovely book is the one that got me into reading books about faeries. But I suppose I’ve always had a thing for faeries. Love this series!

Girl with Guitar by Caisey Quinn – This is the one that got me into reading New Adult book. Before GWG I had never read a NA book but because I read a book by this author before I was curious to see what this one would bring and it’s still my favorite book and series in the genre.

Prophecy of the Most Beautiful by Diantha Jones – This one that got me into books based on Greek Mythology. I always had a fascination with greek mythology and that’s maybe why I’m so into these types of books. And also this series rocks!

Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost – This book got me into reading Paranormal Romance (the adult kind) and also let me meet Bones so I had to feature it in this list!

The Host by Stephenie Meyer – One of my favorite books (but not movies…) and the one that got me into the dystopian genre.

In a Treacherous Court by Michelle Diener – This is the book and author that got me into historical fiction. Michelle’s books are fantastic. I adore her and her books!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green – This is the one that got me (pretty recently) in contemporary young adult fiction. And now I kinda love the genre!

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer – This is probably the most important one. The one that got me into reading English books. Yep. This is the first book ever I read in English and it’s still one of the best decisions I ever made.

The Host is a fantastic book. I agree with you that it would be a great introduction to dystopia! Great list 🙂
