My Favorite Books of 2017
(So Far)

I decided to do a blog post about my favorite books of 2017 that I’ve read so far. I decided on featuring only my top ten. This was really hard because a lot of other amazing books only just didn’t make it.
The books are randomly ordered, except for the top three.

Magicians of the Gods (Nonfiction)This was my first 5 star read of 2017 so obviously it’s a top favorite. It might be a little out there for most people, I think but if like thinking outside of the box and if you are as fascinated as I am by the mysteries of our past, lost civilizations and more this would be the perfect book for you.

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Historical Romance) This is a book that took me by surprise. It got recommended to me by Nitzan from Afterwords (definitely go check out her blog!) when I read her review of the book. I ended up buying it and I just loved it so damn much. It’s still my favorite regency romance of the year.

The Merchant’s Pearl (Historical Romance) This one was so precious to me. I still thinking back about this book quite a lot and I’m so happy when the author emailed me with a review request that I accepted. I’d love to read more books set in the Ottoman empire (I’m obsessed.) It was amazing! {My Review}
Scalding Ice and Goldfire (Dark Fantasy) — This is a standalone in the Lost Souls series and another top favorite. It’s dark fantasy (which I love) and I just thought how very unique all the books were (I would recommend them all but this one was my fave.) {My Review}

Open Wounds (Contemporary Romance) — This is my favorite romance of 2017 so far, which is something I always say when I read a new book by this author. They’re always so good! Also, the covers are always so gorgeous! {My Review}

The Celts (Nonfiction) — I’m still reading this book as I’m writing this blog post but it’s already my favorite nonfiction of the year. I love it even more than Magicians of the Gods (sorry Graham Hancock) and that’s saying A LOT. It’s based on the 3-part BBC documentary series, which is also something I would highly recommend. I love reading and learning more about the Celts so much!

The Indigo Girl (Historical Fiction) — This book was so good! Not only is it written by one of my favorite authors, it’s also about Eliza Lucas who really excisted and did some amazing things. The book doesn’t release until October but you should definitely buy the book once it releases. It also has excerpts from Eliza’s actual letters. {My Review}

My Top 3:

The Night Circus (Fantasy/Historical) — This was just a wonderful story. I definitely regret not reading it sooner. It was the perfect blend of fantasy and historical. Also, that cover!

The Bone Witch (Fantasy) — This was a book that took me by surprise. I’ve enjoyed Rin Chupeco’s other books in the past but not enough to fully love them. Now this book was totally different, it was beyond amazing and my favorite YA book of the year so far. {My Review}

The Alice Network (Historical Fiction) — This one is my #1 favorite of the year. I rarely read historical books set in the 1900’s (I prefer ancient history) but Kate Quinn blew me away with this one. I read it back in May but I already want to re-read it. {My Review}
I’ve read both The Bone Witch and The Alice Network as e-ARCS but I loved them so much that I bought physical copies of them. That’s how good they were! ♥

Have you read any of these books? What are some of your favorites you read so far this year?

  1. I'm afraid I haven't read any of these books-not really my genres-but I'm glad you've found some great books this year. Overall I'm pretty happy with the books I've read with quite a few 5 star reads!

  2. A few are on my list, and I love Sarah MacLean's writing style, her The Rules of Scoundrels series is still one of my personal favourite historical romances! I also have the one you started, which I hope to be able to squeeze in my schedule soon 🙂

  3. I haven't read most of these book but The Night Circus was one of my favorite books a couple years ago. I hope Erin Morgenstern writes another book soon!

    I haven't had any 5 star reads this year but out of my 4 start reads I think I liked The Troop by Nick Cutter. I hope you read a lot more great books the second half of the year!

  4. I really need to read The Night Circus and I am so glad that you enjoyed it! The Bone Witch is another one that I have had my eye on. I hope that there are some more books that you are able to add to this list before the year is out. 🙂

  5. I haven't read any of them, but The Night Circus has been on my radar for a while, and the Alice Network is as well because of your review. Hope there are more favourites in store for the rest of your year 😀

  6. I… do not know any of those '^^ (sorry).
    Except for The Bone Witch & The Night Circus (which I heard good things about).
    All in all, I'm glad you had such an enjoyable book year 😀
