? Top 10 Books I’ve Read in 2017  ?
Hi you guys, I’m back!!

First of all, HAPPY HOLIDAYS! ?
Second, I’m still not totally a 100% well yet and stil struggling with some pain but I feel ready to start blogging again. Yay! I probably won’t post as much as I did before but I’m just gonna see where things go.

So I figured what better way to come back to blogging than with a top 10 of my favorite books I’ve read in 2017. It was not easy making this post because I read a lot of great books. But in the end I managed to narrow it down to my ten favorites. ?

{ The books are randomly ordered }

The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco {My Review}
I read The Bone Witch as an e-ARC at first but I ended up loving it so very much that I had to buy myself a hardcover copy of it, which I did. No regrets!

Oh my gosh, you guys… this book… Phenomenal doesn’t even begin to cover it. I’ve always been fascinated by Hatshepsut but even if she wasn’t my favorite historical figure in ancient Egyptian history, this book turned definitely made her my favorite. Kara Cooney did a marvelous job with this book.

Scalding Ice and Goldfire is the third book in the dark fantasy series ‘Lost Souls‘ that I’ve read and it was my favorite out all of them so far. Avie Adams is one amazing writer. This series is such a hidden gem.

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn {My Review}
For the longest time The Alice Network was my favorite book of 2017 until I read The Woman Who Would Be King. Sorry, Kate! But still, this book is really amazing. It’s set in WWI and a few years after WWII and involves female spies. I loved this book so much. It was brilliant!

Furyborn by Claire Legrand
This ended up being an unexpected favorite of mine. I was lucky enough to receive a physical ARC of this book in my Fairyloot box of November and damn it was one amazing read. I think fans of SJM and fantasy at its finest will love it. Also, it gave me some serious Nevernight vibes!

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
Another rather unexpected favorite read of mine. When I randomly picked the book up I didn’t expect to be so absorbed by the story and the world created in it.

The Indigo Girl by Natasha Boyd {My Review}
As you all maybe know, historical fiction is my favorite genre and when one of my favorite authors wrote a book in this genre I didn’t hesitate at the chance to read it. The Indigo Girl was so freaking good and well-researched, of course it ended up in my top 10 of 2017 books. And I still need to get myself a hardcover copy of it, but I definitely will at some point!

Indebted by Inger Iversen {My Review}
I think I read four books in 2017 by Inger Iversen, making her one of my most read authors this year, but Indebted was my favorite. I always love any of her books but I definitely have a soft spot for Trent and Teal’s stories. If you’re a contemporary romance fans, I’d highly recommend Inger’s books!

Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer {My Review}
Brigid Kemmerer blew me away with Letters to the Lost. I don’t read a lot of YA contemporary books so for one to make my top 10 of books read this year is a pretty big deal for me. I so badly need her next book, More Than We Can Tell. I’m sure it’s going to be equally amazing!

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I don’t know why I didn’t read The Night Circus sooner. It has everything I love in a book: historical fiction, circus, obscure magic and beautiful writing. It’s also one of my top favorite books EVER and not just of 2017.

Honorable mentions:
The Celts by Alice Roberts
The Merchant’s Pearl by Amie O’Brien

So that was my top ten of 2017. I’ll be back next week for my end of year book survey!

  1. Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better! You have a great list here! I loved Letters to the Lost and The Night Circus has been one of my favorites for years!

  2. I loved The Night Circus! I read it years ago but still not immediately after publication so it's a relatively "recent" read for me as well. Such a gorgeous piece of storytelling!

    I hope you feel 100% better very soon! Hang in there, Stephanie!

    Happy holidays. =)

    I would really like to read The Night Circus one of these days. I have heard so many wonderful things about it. Great list! 🙂

  4. Great list! I love Nevernight and The Night Circus as well! Still need to read The Alice Network, Furyborn, The Indigo Girl and The Woman Who Would be King. Now I can't wait to read them! I hope you'll feel 100% better soon, Stephanie! Happy holidays!

  5. OMG!!!! What an AMAZING list, Steph!! I haven't heard of most of these books, but you sure make them ALL sound SO appealing!!

    I HAVE heard of "The Bone Witch", but shied away from it due to the creepy cover….Now I'll DEFINITELY check it out!! As for "The Woman Who Would Be King", I really want to read it! Not that I had heard of it before, but I have a biographical fiction book about her somewhere in my home library that I've been meaning to read. Hmmmm…..now I'm wondering if it's this very same book….. I have SO many books, when I want a specific one, I usually don't know where it is! Lol!!!

    As for the other books, I haven't read them, either. Nor had I heard of them, except for "The Night Circus", which I also own and have to look for….GROAN. That cover is new to me, BTW. I know of two other covers for this book, but THIS cover, I had never seen before. It's a GREAT one, too!!

    Thanks so much for sharing!! Keep getting better, girl! And…..HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! SO GLAD you're back to blogging!! HUGS!!!! <3 <3 <3 🙂 🙂 🙂
