December 40 B.C.
They came from Memphis, Thebes, and Heliopolis to see the Savior born.
“Come, Selene, play your kithara for me today,” the emperor said. “It will cheer you up, and I know you want to please me. That much was true. The night I’d forsaken Euphronius, I made pleasing the emperor my only choice.
Heiress of one empire and prisoner of another, it is up to the daughter of Cleopatra to save her brothers and reclaim what is rightfully hers…To Isis worshippers, Princess Selene and her twin brother Helios embody the divine celestial pair who will bring about a Golden Age. But when Selene’s parents are vanquished by Rome, her auspicious birth becomes a curse. Trapped in an empire that reviles her heritage and suspects her faith, the young messianic princess struggles for survival in a Roman court of intrigue. She can’t hide the hieroglyphics that carve themselves into her hands, nor can she stop the emperor from using her powers for his own ends. But faced with a new and ruthless Caesar who is obsessed with having a Cleopatra of his very own, Selene is determined to resurrect her mother’s dreams. Can she succeed where her mother failed? And what will it cost her in a political game where the only rule is win-or die?
I added this book to my list when you shared it the first time, hehe. It sounds so interesting, and I'm glad it seems to be working well for you. I'll be waiting for your review! 😀
At this point I think I'd enjoy any book written by Stephanie Dray. She hasn't disappointed me yet. 😀
I really like the sound of this! Added to my TBR. Here's my Friday 56: https://myendlessshelf.weebly.com/home/the-friday-56-beyond-a-darkened-shore-by-jessica-leake
That's great! 😀
This sounds really good! And that cover is beautiful too!
I'm obsessed with the cover.
Sounds interesting. I lived in Egypt for 3,5 years, so it would be very interesting to read this one. Will put it on my list. Thank you for sharing.
That's amazing!
Sounds like a good story. Hope you enjoy it!
I am! Thanks!
This one seems very compelling. Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.
Thank you for visiting back!
Ooh, interesting! I like Egyptian history, but I don't read enough about it.
Weirdly enough I haven't read a lot of books set in ancient Egypt myself but I'm starting to read it more now.
I love the cover and the summary sounds intriguing too. This week I am highlighting The Queen of Sorrow by Sarah Beth Durst. Happy reading!
The cover is pretty incredible!
I'd be right into this one, I bet! Happy weekend!
I definitely was!
This sounds interesting! Not my usual genre, but still intriguing. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for visiting my Friday excerpts. ?
I'm really loving it so I'd highly recommend it even if it isn't your usual genre. 😀
I have to say that this is not one of my usual genres, however the premise was most compelling and the cover art quite alluring. I certainly shan't be dismissing it out of hand, that's for sure!
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 🙂

It's REALLY good. Might even be in my top 3 of favorite books of this year.
This sounds fascinating! Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂
Thanks. You too!
This one sounds interesting. Enjoy your current read!
Oh I will 😀
That cover *goes to add on Goodreads*
Right? xD
I always freak out when I have to look ahead for that 56, too. It sounds like something intriguing is going to occur! I hope that you continue to enjoy this one. 🙂
Yes! Right now she's full on despising the emperor so what happened between now and 56%… But at least it's not boring. 😀
That sounds like fun. I'm going to have to find it. Thanks for sharing!
I am in love with this cover. Hope you enjoy the rest. Happy reading!
I like the beginning as well! I'm glad that you are enjoying this one! I really want to read more books in this time period! I'm eagerly awaiting your review! However, I must say that 56 quote freaks me out a little as well!
I may have to add this to my list. 🙂
This is not something I'd usually pick up, but it sounds so good so I just added it to my TBR 🙂
