Margot’s clients all lie to her, but one lie could cost her family and freedom.

Psychologist Margot Scott has a picture-perfect life: a nice house in the suburbs, a husband, two children, and a successful career. On a warm spring morning, Margot spots one of her clients on a busy train platform. He is looking down at his phone, with his duffel bag in hand as the train approaches. That’s when she slams into his back and he falls in front of the train. Suddenly, one tragedy leads to another leaving her, her family, and her patients in danger. As misfortune unfolds, listeners will soon question Margot’s true role in all of these unfortunate events.

Tell Me Lies is a fast-paced, psychological, whodunit mystery that will leave listeners wondering if anyone can actually be trusted.

Psychological thrillers and mystery books are genres I don’t read often. But when I saw this Audible Original I couldn’t resist giving it a shot. And guess what? I was pleasantly surprised because I ended up looooving it. And it’s even one of the best thrillers and best audiobooks I’ve read/listened to in my life!

The reason why I don’t read a lot of thrillers is that I usually see all the twists coming but with this book I didn’t have that problem. Most of the twists were so unexpected and basically hit me on the head. I was simply shook! Especially at the end there was a huge twist that made me stop and say what?! out loud. But that’s exactly a part of why I enjoyed this book so much.

The narrator was Aimee Horne and I really liked the way she narrated the book. She did different voices and accents pretty well so I definitely wouldn’t mind reading other audiobooks that have been narrated by her, if there are any. A good narrator makes all the difference in liking or disliking an audiobook for me.

I also liked that this wasn’t a terribly long audiobook. The listening lenght is 6 hours and 20 minutes so I listened to all of it in only a couple of days and only when I had to take public transportation. It was a great read to tune everything around me out and have a little distraction while commuting.

About the author:
J.P has always been drawn to the dark. He grew up on a horse-racing farm in small town New Zealand with two brothers, a sister, two cats and two border collies.

Eventually he would find himself leaving Rotorua and landing in Melbourne, Australia. For three years he has produced and hosted a podcast, interviewing guests from Joyce Carol Oates and Dorthe Nors to John Safran and E. Lockhart. He also worked in marketing but in the evening he was always writing, contributing to a number of Australian publications and beginning to draft what would become CALL ME EVIE.

A first love for literary fiction quickly developed into a taste for sharp, fast paced story telling. Stories that surprised him, stories that tied a cold knot in the pit of his stomach.

His work has been widely published in journals including Meanjin, Kill Your Darlings, TLB review of books and The NZ Listener. He has also won, and been short-listed for a number of prizes.

CALL ME EVIE is his first novel and will be released in Australia and the UK in January 2019 and the US and other territories later in the year.

J.P. lives with his wife, splitting his time between Melbourne city and Clunes.

I have seen the one on Audible here too and have been wondering about it — it sounds just like my kind of twisty goodness!
