#NonfictionNovember — Book Pairing

Nonfiction November is hosted by Leann @ Shelf Aware, Julie @ JulzReads, Rennie @ What’s Nonfiction and Katie @ Doing Dewey

Week 2 — Book Pairing:

This week, pair up a nonfiction book with a fiction title. It can be a “If you loved this book, read this!” or just two titles that you think would go well together. Maybe it’s a historical novel and you’d like to get the real history by reading a nonfiction version of the story.

I’m pairing the nonfiction book Cleopatra: Fact and Fiction by Barbara Watterson with the historical fiction books Lily of the Nile by Stephanie Dray and Cleopatra’s Moon by Vicky Alvear Shecter. Cleopatra: Fact and Fiction was a recent read of mine and I absolutely loved it. My review of it should be up this week.

Feel free to recommend me a “If you loved this book, read this!”  in the comments if you want to.

  1. Cleopatra: Fact and Fiction sounds like a good take on the subject. I tried to read Stacy Schiff’s biography and there was too much fiction in it — pages and pages of speculation because not much was really known about the subject. An honest biographer would just admit that and move on.

  2. Ooh, I’ve read a couple of great books on Cleopatra, including Stacy Schiff’s Cleopatra and Kara Cooney’s The Woman Who Would Be King, and I’d love to read some more. I’ve not heard of any of these and they look good!
