10th Blogoversary β€” My Favorite Books Across The Years!

Posted December 3, 2021 by Stephanie in Blogoversary / 23 Comments

It’s my 10th blogoversary! (actually it was yesterday but shhh 🀫)
I just can’t believe I’ve been blogging for a whole DECADE. Time is definitely an illusion if you ask me.Β  But anyways… I wanna say a huge thank you to everyone who’s been supporting me and my blog over the years. I love you all!

I decided to celebrate with a blog post featuring my favorite book of every year since I started blogging. LET’S GO!

2011:

Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

This book will always have a special place in my heart. Not only is it still one of my favorite series of all time, it’s also where I came up with my blog’s name, Bookfever. I still have the very last book to read that came out earlier this year but I haven’t had the nerve to pick it up. I just don’t want the series to end and I’m scared what will happen to my favorites in the book. Eventually I will read the last book but I’m not sure when that will be.

2012:

Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

Aside from the gorgeous cover, I remember this book being absolutely beautifully written. It’s a Peter Pan retelling and one that’s definitely underrated. I love this part of the synopsis: “Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair…”

2013:

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

Another retelling that I fell in love with. One of the first Beauty and the Beast retellings that I’ve read so not one I will easily forget. This was one of those books that I just had to buy a hardcover of after reading the e-ARC. One of these days I want to re-read it also.

2014:

Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult

This was my first (and until today still my only…) Jodi Picoult book but it packed quite the emotional punch with me. I still think about this book very often and it’s yet again one I would love to re-read, if I could handle the emotions at least. Also, ELEPHANTS!

2015:

America’s First Daughter by Stephanie Dray & Laura Kamoie

This is another very special book to me. Even though this era wasn’t my usual interest at the time, I was one of the very early reviewers of the book and absolutely ended up loving it. I was also send a signed copy by someone and that made me so happy so I definitely cherish my book of it now. I love these two authors SO much!

2016:

An Exaltation of Larks by Suanne Laqueur

Another very underrated but fantastic book. I still recommend it and the whole series whenever I can. The rollercoaster of emotions hits me even now as I’m writing this. Just such a good book. Sometimes hard to read but so very excellent. And look how pretty the cover is!

2017:

The Woman Who Would Be King: Hatshepsut’s Rise to Power in Ancient Egypt by Kara Cooney

Kara Cooney is a sort of hero of mine. She’s an egyptologist, Professor of Egyptian Art and Architecture at UCLA, writer, podcaster and more. The Woman Who Would Be King is still my favorite book of hers. I knew about Hatshepsut before I read it but I learned so much more about this female pharoah thanks to this book and it was SO GOOD!

2018:

My Dear Hamilton: A Novel of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton by Stephanie Dray & Laura Kamoie

Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie AGAIN? Oh yes! This shows how amazing their books always are. They are always captivating, powerful and unputdownable reads. I’m not sure if they have anything in the works together now but I hope so because it’s going to be on my wishlist always!

2019:

The Huntress by Kate Quinn

Another historical fiction insta-buy author of mine. Kate Quinn always has excellent books, ALWAYS. This book is based on real events and is about the all-female night bomber regiment known as the Night Witches. Just amazing and highly recommended!

2020:

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

It’s kinda surprising SJM hasn’t ended up on my favorites list on other years but I’m glad it’s this one because it’s still my favorite book of hers (along with A Court of Silver Flames!). I just love Bryce Quinlan so much. She’s one of my favorite characters of all time. For Sarah’s first urban fantsasy it’s such a good one, excellent even. I can’t wait for the sequel in February 2022!

And that’s it. Since the year isn’t quite over yet you’ll have to wait until later this month to find out my favorite book of 2021. I’ll be talking about it in my end of year survey.
