A set of selected Haiga works, made throughout the year of 2020, where pandemics freeze us all. The time we supposed would be the end, allow us to go deeper in thoughts and feelings. This is the first book of haiku poems.

Haiku + Drawings = Haiga by Horacio Magnus was a lovely collection of haiku poems. Haiku is actually my favorite type of poetry and that’s why I was drawn to this book to read and review. I also really liked that it included illustrations. I’m always a big fan of art in books. I also didn’t know that this type of art form, the haiku poems and the illustrations together was called Haiga so I also learned something new.

Since Haiku are very short poems it’s a book anyone can easily read in one sitting, which is exactly what I did. The author did a great job of detailing so much with such short sentences and I really admired that. I will leave some of my favorites below so you can all get a taste of it.

My favorites:

Aegean deep blues
Walking by stones to refresh
Hot sand burns my feet

I love to write tales
Love walking whispering words
Love greens, also whites

Sweet moments we live
Wrapped in sun, birds’ trills and scents
Life is just a blink

Leaf blows up in greens
Hummingbird dancing around
Magic morning dew
