A new dystopian dark romance! When Mercy refuses to serve the men of Ember Glen as they purge beneath the full moon, Arlo forces her to find absolution through three brutal trials. Yet their chemistry is undeniable, and it sparks a forbidden romance that might just destroy their world.

★★★★★ “A morally pitch black love interest…” -Amanda J, Goodreads Review-

Mercy
Neglecting my duty to serve is a sin, and during the last full moon, I became a sinner.

He saw me run from my duty, chased me, and caught me.
He promised me that I would be punished.

But I never could have imagined the hellish fate that would be chosen for me. More than that, I never could have imagined the maddening lust that would spark between me and the man who caught me.

This passion is forbidden…and it might set us on fire.

Arlo
It’s my role to catch the sinners, and Mercy sinned gravely.

I saw her and I chased her, drawn to her inexplicably.
She sparked something within me, but she had to be brought to judgment.

Her punishment is coming in the form of an archaic ritual we’re bringing back to make an example of her. I’ll be her warden, her keeper, the man to ensure she stays alive between her torturous trials.

Something within her brings out the worst of me…and the worst of me wants to ruin her.

“There’s something dangerous about you, Mercy. Something bright and dark all at once.”

This was one fucked up story but even so I simply devoured the whole book and it left me wanting more. The story gave me vibes à la The Hunger Games vs dark romance and I was so here for it all. I’m already psyched out of my mind for the second book. It’s going to be a triloy so I can’t wait to see where the author is going to take the next books. I’m sure it’s going to be one hell of a ride!

I’m not going to do a decription of what the book is about because I think the synopsis is very clear on that and I don’t think I could do a better job myself. The character of Mercy Madness was not one I was expected. She was far more headstrong, spunkier and gutsier than I thought she would be. Arlo was also a very surprising character because he very much believes in the doctrination that he’s been raised in and as a member of The Control he forces that doctrination as the word of God. Of course the more time he spends with Mercy, the more softer moments we glimpse from him but that’s not to say that he would go fully against the law for her.

The lust that sparked between them was so very hot, which was very forbidden made the story and their interactions all the more intense and fiery. And then there’s Brynn Ford’s writing. This was not my first book by her but once again I have been reminded that she’s such a good writer. She really has a knack of hooking the reader until they finish the book and leaving them wanting more. At least that’s happened to me.

Dark, twisted and insanely delicious, Spark of Madness by Brynn Ford is officially the darkest book I’ve ever read. And I loved every single page of it. I’d highly recommend it to dark romance and forbidden love fans. You don’t want to miss this one!

About the author:

Brynn Ford writes dark romance for daring readers. She is a lover of the dark, twisted, and playful, and strives to bring these elements into her stories.

When she isn’t obsessively writing, you may find her binge-watching favorite shows while eating far too much junk food or fanatically reading, always seeking to lose herself in the emotional roller coaster of a damn good story.

She’s a firm believer that her characters continue to live outside the pages in the minds of her readers. Stories don’t end just because there aren’t any more pages to turn.
