What I Read Last Week
Natural Disaster | De Volksjury 2
Natural Disaster is the 2nd book in the Deserted Island series by Skye Warren and Amelia Wilde. I’ve been really enjoying the series and can’t wait to read the 3rd book!
De Volksjury 2 is a book in Dutch written by Silke Vandenbroeck and Laura Scheerlinck, the hosts of the Belgian true crime podcast De Volksjury. I loved their first book too but this second book is even better!
WHAT I AM READING NOW:
Project Hail Mary | How Far the Light Reaches
Project Hail Mary came recommended to me for my 12 book recommendations challenge 2023 that I’m doing + I also want to read more science fiction so I thought it would be perfect for my first read of the year. It’s my first book by Andy Weir and far I’m really enjoying it!
How Far the Light Reaches is the audiobook I’m currently listening to (I’m always listening to at least one audiobook along with a physical or e-book). It’s a mix of autobiography and science with LGBTQ+ themes. I’m also really enjoying this one and the book has the potential to be a 5 star read even!
Up Next
Sea of Ruin is another recommendation that I got. I’m really curious about it because I’ve seen fellow readers really liking this books. And who doesn’t love pirates?!
Isaiah’s Legacy is one my eye fell upon the other day and happened to be on sale for Audible so I grabbed it quickly. It sounds really good and it has great ratings as well.
What are your last/current/next reads?
I am all ears for De Volksjury – sounds great, as long as I can get the English translated version!
They’re not translated. They’re very new books but I hope someday they will get translated. That would be so amazing!
I adored Project Hail Mary! I can’t wait to hear what you think. And I’m very curious about De Volksjury 2😁
I knowww! I’m 215 pages in and have been really enjoying it. 😀
I’m interested to hear what you think about Hail Mary – I had it on my TBR for awhile, but for some reason deleted it.
I haven’t been able to read for a few days but I hope I can jump back into it this week because it’s been really good so far!
Nice eclectic assortment of books. I haven’t read anything by Andy Weir but The Martians has been languishing on TBR mountain for a couple of years. Come see my week here. Happy reading and Happy New Year!
I hope to read The Martian at some point too now that I know how good his writing is 😀
I love that cover of Project Hail Mary–it’s much more interesting that the one we get here in the US. I really enjoyed that book. I listened to it and then my husband read it in one day (and he is NOT a readerly person!)
Have a great week!
I love the cover too. It’s so great! And wow your husband read it in one day? That’s amazing for such a chunky book. But it’s been such a great read so far so I don’t blame him!
I’ve heard Project Hail Mary is excellent. I hope you enjoy it!
I am very much enjoying it. Definitely starting the year out with a great read!
De Volksjury 2 piqued my interest!I am guessing the podcast is entirely in Dutch? I was hoping for a new one to listen to!
Yes, it’s in Dutch. One of the very few podcasts from my country that I actually listen to. I also have tickets for a live show in March. I’m SO excited!
I’ve heard so many good things about Project Hail Mary, I hope you’ll also enjoy it! I hope to read it too sometime soon 🙂
I just started my re-read of Sorcery of Thorns 🙂
Project Hail Mary is SO good. I’m loving it! And ughhh I need a re-read of Sorcery of Thorns!
I’ve got Project Hail Mary on my MustReadIn2023 list. First I’ve got to finish the finalists for the Cybils awards, but I’m hoping to maybe listen to it.
