From USA Today Bestselling author Eva Leigh comes a story of forbidden sensuality…

The last thing Mrs. Vivian Sparkwell wants is to tie her life to another stifling husband. But thanks to the surprise terms of her last marriage contract, if she refuses any reasonable offer to wed again, she loses her widow’s portion. What she needs is a thorough and public ruining to make her would-be suitors cry off. Who better to provide the necessary scandal than notorious rake Rushton Cantley? Yet when Rush proposes that his friend, gaming hell bruiser Jack Morgan, join in on the ruination, Vivian can’t decide if she’s shocked-or aroused. How far is too far when infamy is on the line?

This wasn’t my all time favorite Eva Leigh book but it was a sexy and quick romp that can easily be read in only a couple of hours. Also take note that Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell was originally published in the Rake I’d Like to F… anthology.

This story featured Vivian Sparkwell. A year (and a month) after her husband passed way, she comes out of her mourning period and gets told by her stepson that due to a marriage contract that she’ll have to remarry as soon as any gentleman offers for her. To put a stop to yet another arranged marriage, Vivian looks up infamous rake Rushton ‘Rush’ Cantley and asks him to ruin her. Rush is more than happy to oblige and not only introduces her to all kinds of pleasure she has never had before, but also to his friend Jack Morgan with who’m he often shares women.

This is a novella so it was a fast read and that’s maybe why I missed some more character developement between the characters. The relationship between Vivian, Rush and Jack went a little too fast for me. Other than that I did enjoy this story. The smutty scenes were very well-written as per usual with this author and I was also pleased that it was a MMF romance since I love those.

Two Rakes for Mrs. Sparkwell by Eva Leigh was a good story, just not a great one. I like my characters with a little more development in general but for a novella it was a fun read and let’s be fair, I would read anything by this author.

  1. That is often my problem with novellas/short stories – there often just isn’t enough time for proper character or plot development. But I’m glad there were things to enjoy!
