My favorite adult urban fantasy series + quotes
F.R.E.A.K.S. Squad Investigation series by Jennifer Harlow
“You’re cute, but…”
He steps away from me, and I can breathe again. “Cute?” he spits. “For centuries women have wanted me, desired me. Royals requested me by name, and you think I am cute?”
Mind Over Monsters | To Catch a Vampire | Death Takes a Holiday
The Hollows series by Kim Harrison
“What are you?” I rasped.
It smiled. “Whatever scares you.”
Dead Witch Walking | The Good, The Bad, and the Undead | Every Which Way But Dead
Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost
“I’m saying that I’m a moody, insecure, narrow-minded, jealous, borderline homicidal bitch, and I want you to promise me that you’re okay with that, because it’s who I am, and you’re what I need.”
Halfway to the Grave | One Foot in the Grave | At Grave’s End
Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward
“You are a manipulator.
I like to think of myself more as an outcome engineer.”
Dark Lover | Lover Eternal | Lover Awakened
Alex Stern series by Leigh Bardugo
“That was what magic did. It revealed the heart of who you’d been before life took away your belief in the possible. It gave back the world all lonely children longed for.”
Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong
“Are you the welcoming committee? Or has Jeremy finally chained you up to the front gate where you belong?”
“I missed you too.”
Bitten | Stolen | Dime Store Magic
The All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness
“It begins with absence and desire.
It begins with blood and fear.
It begins with a discovery of witches.”
A Discovery of Witches | Shadow of Night | The Book of Life
Fever series by Karen Marie Moning
“Last night you said you wanted to know what to expect so you could better select your attire. I told you we were going to visit a vampire in a Goth-den tonight. Why, then, Ms. Lane, do you look like a perky rainbow?”
Darkfever | Bloodfever | Faefever
Crescent City series by Sarah J. Maas
“Through love, all is possible.”
House of Earth and Blood | House of Skye and Breath
The Guild Codex series: Demonized
“He protects me in exchange for baked goods. That’s … that’s the whole contract.”
Taming Demons for Beginners | Slaying Monsters for the Feeble | Hunting Fiends for the Ill-Equipped
Have you read any of these books?
What are your favorite adult UF books?
“He protects me in exchange for baked goods.” This is all I need to know! I am going to have to take a look at this series! This is a great list, Stephanie! 🙂
Demonized is my favorite series in The Guild Codex world. I love Robin and Zylas SO much 😭😍
Interesting genre, Stephanie. I don’t think I’ve ever read an urban fantasy book but I am not much into fantasy, either. How nice that you found so many. I had trouble restricting myself to ten, as well.
Thanks for visiting my TTT this week.
I could’ve added many more but had to hold myself back 😛
You are definitely not the only one there. LOL
I haven’t really read urban fantasy, but I think it might be something I could start reading!
It’s my favorite fantasy subgenre!
I’ve heard such good things about Ninth House.
It’s SO good and I’m happy to say the sequel is also excellent!
I still need to read Ninth House and Crescent City. I’m so behind haha
Both are (obviously) favorites of mine!
I love this post! And especially the quotes, some of them are so funny😁
I tried to find a balance between funny and serious quotes haha
Loved Dead Witch Walking, & A Discovery of Witches!! Loved this list!!
Such good reads! 😀
Kelley Armstrong and Kim Harrison are two of my favorites! Such great series.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
This is an amazing list!! Half of these are already my favorites and the other half are on my TBR so I have very high hopes for them 🙂
I’ve read Ninth House and I enjoyed it, but haven’t read Hell Bent yet. Honestly, I need to find a recap of Ninth House first because it’s been almost four years, I’ve totally forgotten what happened!
Ahhh the memories, I read and loved half of those when I was at college, the 2010s series were so good
It’s always fun to read quotes — especially from books I haven’t read. It gives me a peek inside. Thanks for sharing!
Fun list. I have the Alex Stern series on my tbr, but I have to get through her King of Scars series first.
Ooh I need to read more Kelley Armstrong- I’ve only read her Rockton series.
I’ve read a little urban fantasy but not much, have liked a lot of the J R Ward books and sampled Frost. Didn’t like Maas. One of the few I guess!!
I think I first truly got introduced to the urban fantasy series with Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series — I loved it sooo much!
