The challenge: spend a week hiding in an abandoned amusement park and don’t get caught.
The prize: enough money to change everything.
Even though everyone is desperate to win – to seize their dream futures or escape their haunting pasts – Mack feels sure that she can beat her competitors. All she has to do is hide, and she’s an expert at that.
It’s the reason she’s alive, and her family isn’t.
But as the people around her begin disappearing one by one, Mack realizes this competition is more sinister than even she imagined, and that together might be the only way to survive.
Fourteen competitors. Seven days. Everywhere to hide, but nowhere to run.
Come out, come out, wherever you are.
It’s been a few years since I picked up a book by this author and I ended up highly enjoying Hide by Kiersten White. Although, I feel like I’m in the minority here because it doesn’t have the highest rating on Goodreads. But I really did like this story. It was creepy, rather unsettling and you never knew who was going to die. Also it was clearly based on the myth of the Minotaur and the Labyrinth, which I loved because I didn’t know that beforehand.
Hide is about fourteen competitors who compete in a seven day game of Hide and Seek. If they can spend the week in an abandoned amusement park without getting caught the winner gets 50000 dollars, which would be life changing for any of them. But as the game goes on and competitors start disappearing, the game starts being not funny anymore and they’re not sure if they will make it out alive at all.
Mack was the main character but the story was also very much about the other thirteen competitors, some more than others. I enjoyed reading about Mack. She had a pretty dark background where she lost her entire family and is on the streets now so winning the money could change her life. She determined to not get close to any of the other competitors but as the game goes on and gets dangerous she will have to work together with some of the others.
Is Hide the best book ever? No. Did I enjoy it nevertheless? Definitely! It was a quick read and creeped me out quite a few times. It was also a real page-turner because I just had to know how the story would go on, who would die next and who would survive, if anyone at all. And the hints to the greek mythology story were also fun to catch.

It’s a fun one, in a suspenseful way!
This does sound super creepy and intriguing and so fun that it’s based on Greek mythology too!
Well we don’t always need a Pulitzer but a good page turner!
Love the Greek mythology connection! This sounds perfect for the season.
Yeah, personally I wasn’t a big fan of this one, but I thought the premise was amazing and I’m glad it worked better for you!!
Great cover
