  1. Whoa, brilliant post and bookmarking it!
It’s always great to see some historicals on the best-of list. They were Here Before Us sounds ominous and fascinating! It reminds me somehow of the documentary on Netflix, Ancient Apocalypse – have you watched that?
Here’s to many more wonderful historicals in 2025! (and yes, more re-reads of Poe, love that imagination!) Happy New Year 🙂

    • Thank you, Lex! 😀

They were Here Before Us is just about humans in prehistory, no weird pseudo-archaeology things 😅 I didn’t watch Ancient Apocalypse as I’m not a big Graham Hancock fan. I don’t support his views.

Rereading Poe during spooky season is always a must!

  2. Love your list of favourite books and reading habits for 2024. I have only read Fourth Wing. I did like the dragon part of the book, but the love story was too expected. I am probably to old for these kind of books.
As you know I love the same kind of books as you, and I see a lot of interesting books of history, that would be interesting for me to read.

  3. I almost picked up Mother of Rome recently but am in the middle of the Wolf Den trilogy and decided I might want to hold off on that one until I finish the third book. I am so glad to see it featured here though! I look forward to reading it. My daughter read The Tell-Tale Heart for school this past fall and really liked it. She’s planning to read more Poe in the near future. I can see why you chose the covers you did as your favorites. They really are gorgeous. I hope you have a Happy New Year!
