Never thought I’d agree to a marriage of convenience to my hot, firefighter ex boyfriend.
Especially after he casually informs me we’ve been married for ten years.Ten years ago, Wilder and I were so in love that we got married in Vegas for one night only before leaving for college on different sides of the world. He was supposed to mail the annulment papers.
Problem is, he didn’t.
Worse? He didn’t tell me.
Not even when I came back to town to marry another man.But now he needs my help, and I can’t say no. All I have to do is have to pretend in front of the whole town like we’re married. Hold hands. Kiss. Not throw myself at him when he looks at me like I’m the only woman in the world.
My body might remember him, but the rest of me isn’t ready. Because I’m just learning how to find myself, and if I get wrapped up in Wilder’s world, I’ll lose more than my heart—I’ll lose everything.
Again.
Staci Hart is fully into her sports romance era and I’m so here for it all! After finishing Wild Card I just had to start Hot Shot right away. There was no way I could have waited. And although it wasn’t quit a 5 star read like Wild Card was, Hot Shot still ended up as a favorite read of mine. It had my favorite romance trope: marriage of convenience AND hot fire fighters… I mean, there was no way I wouldn’t enjoy this book. Staci Hart definitely delivered once again!
The second Roseville Ramblers book features Cass and Wilder. They have quite a history since they dated in high school and were madly in love, but had to move away from each other as college came along. The one thing they did on a last trip together with their friends? Secretely get married. But only for one day, just to feel what it would be like. Wilder was supposed to send in the papers to annul their marriage. Except he didn’t. For a decade. And now Wilder needs Cass’ help and pretend to be married and in love again. But they soon find out that pretending is coming a little too easy for them.
Cass and Wilder? I loved them to bits and pieces. Even after ten years of not being together they had that chemistry fire going, even though it was complicated as hell and Cass had been going through a lot lately. I’m not going to mention why and for what exactly Wilder needs Cass’ help for since it’s a pretty big spoiler. But let’s say I didn’t expect it at all but I was pleasantly surprised by this emotional aspect of the story.
Just like the first book, this second one was hilarious with some more serious moments sprinkled in. There was more at stake with this one and sure, Wilder and Cass made some mistakes but I couldn’t blame them. The romance between them was close to perfection and I could’ve read about them for days. I also loved the appearances of Jessa and Remy from the first book. I really enjoyed seeing them and they were thriving together. We also got a hint as who the next couple in book three is gonna be and I’m obsessed already. Bring it on!
About the author:
I was the kid who stayed inside to read.
As a four-eyed nerd with a bad perm, I was no one’s dodgeball pick, but I had a lot of friends. Frodo and Bilbo, for instance. Kristy, Stacey, Claudia and the gang (iykyk). Once, in the third grade, I wrote a teen murder mystery inspired by Christopher Pike. On solving my mystery in twelve pages, I decided I was a terrible writer and should never, ever do that again.
Fortunately, I didn’t take my own advice.
I write romance for that feeling you get at the end, like you’re standing on top of a mountain with a backpack full of hundred dollar bills. I write romcoms because is there anything better than banter and grand gestures? I write because I love to create and I love words. I love books, and I love stretching my imagination. I love love, and if you do too, bring your coffee and have a seat. I think we’re gonna be friends.
I love how Staci Hart always manages to balance humor with more serious moments!
Ok, I totally get the hot firefighter thing😉 This sounds fantastic, and its also funny that they decided to get married in high-school and have been all this time! Great review!
These Staci Hart books look like so much fun and I am a sucker for the marriage of convenience trope 🙂
