Nonfiction November is here again!
I participated for the first time last year and had a blast so of course I’m doing it again this year.
My Year in Nonfiction
Take a look back at your year of nonfiction and reflect on the following questions
What was your favorite nonfiction read of the year?
Greek Mythology: The Gods, Goddesses, and Heroes Handbook by Liv Albert
Liv Albert is the host of my favorite podcast Let’s Talk About Myths, Baby so it hasn’t come as a surprise that her book ended up as my favorite nonfiction of the year. It was also my most anticipated book of the year and Liv absolutely smashed it, along with Sara Richard who made the beautiful illustrations.
Do you have a particular topic you’ve been attracted to more this year?
Yes! I’ve been reading more books that go into mindfulness and mental health this year, which are topics that are very important to me. I would highly recommend the three below.
Het No-Nonsense Meditatieboek by Steven Laureys
Mindscaping: A Practical Guide For How To Be Happier by Donovon Jenson
Chill Out and Cheer Up: A Ten-Step Guide by Grace Grossmann
What nonfiction book have you recommended the most?
I think the nonfiction book that I have recommended the most is Powerful Women of the Medieval World by Dorsey Armstrong. This is an Audible Original that’s part of their Great Courses books and it is excellent. I’ve read my fair share of the Greart Courses but this one is by far my favorite. It’s super fascinating and Dorsey Armstrong narrated it in a really great way.
What are you hoping to get out of participating in Nonfiction November?
My answer for this one is pretty simply. I hope to discover more bloggers that are into nonfiction like I am and of course to add more nonfiction books to my (never ending) TBR. 🥰

I didn’t get much non-fiction reading done this year unfortunately. I do remember the Greek mythology book you’ve put in this post — the illustrations are gorgeous!
You remember it because I mention it on my blog so much hahaha and yes the illustrations are so beautiful! 😍
The Greek Mythology book looks so gorgeous, I know I’ve added it to my to-buy list!
It really is! I adore the illustrations!
Wow that Greek Mythology book looks amazing. Also, I think I need to listen to that podcast as well!
I can’t recommend the podcast high enough!!
I don’t really read non fiction but I always love hearing about the non fiction books you’re reading. I love the idea of books that help with a positive mental state😁
I can’t resist mindfulness books. They’re really helpful for me 😊
Great post! I’m intrigued by the Mind Scaping one!
I don’t read much non fiction. I’m looking forward to your Non Fiction book recommendations!
I’ve been reading about mindfulness and mental health too but I’ve not come across the three you mention. I like the title Chill Out and Cheer Up – that’s it in a nutshell, isn’t it!
My son would love Greek Mythology, it’s a favourite subject of his, and will make a perfect Christmas present so thanks!
Oh, reminder that I still need and want to read the Liv Albert book!
Hope you’ll have a great Nonfiction November!
You are definitely the biggest non-fiction reader out there! I really need to add some more of it to my tbr as well. Powerful Women of the Medieval World is one that intrigues me, for sure! 🙂
Powerful Women of the Medieval World sounds amazing! I must add that to my TBR.
I just downloaded Greek Mythology: The Gods, Goddesses, and Heroes Handbook on Kindle Unlimited! I cannot wait to read it!
I do like reading nonfiction, but I haven’t done much of it in awhile. I’m going to get one or two in this month! Thanks for the recommendations. I do love books about mental health, etc.

Here is what my nonfiction year looks like: https://wordsandpeace.com/2021/11/05/nonfiction-november-my-year-2021-in-nonfiction/
Interesting choice of books. I read mostly history, but also decided to read some mindfulness books this year. They are already on my shelves. I am always a fan of the Greek myths, so interesting. Thank you for your recommendation on powerful women during the medieval ages. That goes directly on to my to read list. Sounds very interesting.
Greek Mythology looks so good! And I’ve been on the lookout for new podcast recommendations, so thanks for featuring that, too.
Mindscaping sounds really interesting! I hadn’t heard of the Greek mythology podcast and book, that’s intriguing too.
