Anatomy: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz
Expected publication: January 18, 2022 by Wednesday Books
A gothic tale full of mystery and romance about a willful female surgeon, a resurrection man who sells bodies for a living, and the buried secrets they must uncover together.
Edinburgh, 1817.
Hazel Sinnett is a lady who wants to be a surgeon more than she wants to marry.
Jack Currer is a resurrection man who’s just trying to survive in a city where it’s too easy to die.
When the two of them have a chance encounter outside the Edinburgh Anatomist’s Society, Hazel thinks nothing of it at first. But after she gets kicked out of renowned surgeon Dr. Beecham’s lectures for being the wrong gender, she realizes that her new acquaintance might be more helpful than she first thought. Because Hazel has made a deal with Dr. Beecham: if she can pass the medical examination on her own, the university will allow her to enroll. Without official lessons, though, Hazel will need more than just her books – she’ll need bodies to study, corpses to dissect.
Lucky that she’s made the acquaintance of someone who digs them up for a living, then.
But Jack has his own problems: strange men have been seen skulking around cemeteries, his friends are disappearing off the streets. Hazel and Jack work together to uncover the secrets buried not just in unmarked graves, but in the very heart of Edinburgh society.
I just really love the synopsis of this book. I love the era, the setting and that it’s a gothic tale. Also, the cover is also really unique and eye-catching. Gimmeeee!

This sounds intriguing yet probably a bit too body horror-y for me. I feel a little bit sick just thinking about someone selling bodies for a living haha.
I can handle horror-like books as long as they’re set in the past and gothic 😅
I’ve seem this gorgeous cover around but I never really stopped to read the story description. It sounds sooo good!!
I’m glad you read the description now. It does sound amazing, right? 😀
You had me at gothic! Looking forward to your thoughts on this!
I know right? A synopsis mentions gothic and I’m all over it!
I’m not really into the body horror type of books but this seems so good. I’m getting the vibes of Felicity from The Montague Siblings by Mackenzi Lee from the MC and I need more.
I have really high hopes for it!
Oh yes! This sounds irresistible!
VERY!
First of all, I like your Can´t Wait Wednesday-Logo. Simple in its form and design and yet modern. Know what I mean? I had to look twice at the cover to see that it isn´t showing a heart but a woman dressed in what, in hemp ropes? It caught my attention, that´s for sure. Not sure if I wanted to read it but the summary does sound intriguing.
It’s such a clever cover, right? 😀
That is one of the most unique covers I’ve seen in a while. Also, the story sounds very unique too. I hope you love it!
After seein excellent reviews about that one it’s now on my radatr too!
The cover is definitely eye-catching! Maybe too horror for me, but I hope you’ll love it!
